Arm pit pain

Options

I have searched in vain for an answer to the arm pit pain I am experiencing. While I have found many references to numbness, sharp pain, stabbing pain, etc I haven't found a reference to my particularly experience. I had a bilateral mastectomy on 1/6/21. Almost immediately I felt an irritation under the arm and arm pit area on the right side next to the cancer breast. I thought initially it was simple irritation caused by the mastectomy band but even after switching to a bra I am still experiencing the same irritation. It is a similar feeling to chafing due to being hot or skin rubbing a rough material for an extended period of time. I asked my PS about the cause and he seemed to think it was nerve issues. Nothing seems to sooth and I literally can't stand having my arm against my body but unfortunately I am still in the T Rex arm position so can't avoid arm touching anything. I have to add the reconstruction part of this process is turning into the more uncomfortable aspect of mastectomy/reconstruction. I dealt with surgery pain relatively well per my husband but find myself whining about skin irritation and the iron plates that masquerade as breasts that are attached to my chest. Sign. Any input on skin irritation issues?

I had the chafing feeling as well, under both arms and also at the tops of my "breasts" (just above where the tissue expanders are). I was told it was from the swelling, and it did eventually go away - both the swelling and burning feeling. My surgery was 12/21/21 so I am ahead of you by about 2.5 weeks.
