Anxious!
Hi, I am 41 years old and not sure what to do. I have been trying to find someone with similar symptoms to my own.
I regularly check my breasts and I read about a lady with a similar experience, when I got out the shower two weeks ago I have a faint pinker patch of skin approx 2in in diameter and to me looks slightly raised like a hive. I saw a nurse last week and she said it looked a bit dry and sent me on my way. I'm very concerned and it's not 'normal' for me. I had a melanoma in-situ 9 years ago at the back of my neck, so regularly check my skin. Any advice would be appreciated, but because it is more apparent in different light I feel I'm going mad!
thank you
*** update so I went to see my GP who said again it just looked dry & she couldn't see any classic symptoms of IBC. She just said to use moisturiser and if still concerned see her again in 3 weeks! I have very sensitive skin & suffer with chronic idiopathic urticaria (hives) & I did explain this so I am totally aware of how my skin can appear when hot & this patch is not like that. Feel like I am moaning.... sirry

A dermatologist visit would be good, plus could do a skin punch biopsy if it is determined to be warranted.

Seconding what MelissaDallas said. The first stop for skin problems should almost always be the dermatologist, especially if you have just one symptom, in your case, a small patch of skin that is faintly colored and slightly raised. Since you've had prior skin trouble, they should be able to get you in right away. Good luck and please let us know what you find out.

MrsT - copying my response from one of the other threads where you posted. You've already gotten some really good advice from several people.
"That said, if the patch was on your thigh or your stomach, you would not think breast cancer. Since it's a skin issue, I'd suggest an appointment with your dermatologist. That's much more likely than IBC. Hopefully since you had melanoma skin cancer in the past, you see your derm doc regularly.
That and STAY OFF google. That is really not reliable"

I agree with dermatology recommendation....Let us know how things go....

okay so, doctor referred me to the breast clinic (I live in the UK) I had a mammogram and ultrasound and both normal. I still don’t know what it is! It’s gotten ever so slightly bigger and visible pin prick type marks, it’s very bizarre, it looks a bit like a giant hive! I will be speaking to gp next week for dermatology referral.
I’ve tried to stay off google but I did read sometimes IBC is not picked up on scans?
I guess I am anxious primarily because the mole I had removed 9 years ago was just not in a place I liked (at back of neck) & I thought if ever I’m going to get skin cancer that mole will be the culprit and low and behold it was melanoma in situ, I caught it really early and have my very visible scar to remind me.I hope everyone is okay x

I sure hope you're able to get into see a dermatologist soon - in part b/c your worry is sooo high... Please try to take good care and find some relaxing things to do that do not involve Googling or Bing'g.... it's only making you feel worse when you can't do anything right now.... Take good care of you!
