Hi,

I am 18 years old and have been experiencing breast pain in both of my breasts for about 6 days straight and today I had pain in my sternum and found it difficult to breathe (shallow breaths). It is worse in my left one so I am not sure if it is just radiating to the right one. I am noticed enlarged pores on both of them, they feel heavier and denser and they are a little swollen. I have also noticed little read dots that are not raised and there is a little pinkish area on the outer section of my right one and sometimes my armpits feel sore. I have never had breast pain from my period before and my period is not close to arriving so I do not think that it is period related but the pain changes on a daily basis. It is not the same two days in a row and can be burning, achey, dull, or shooting. I know I am young but I have a whack medical history like when I was 7 I was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes and when I was 10 I was diagnosed with a brain tumor and when I was 11 I had an eating disorder so really at this point I think anything is possible and I am just very worried. I have a doctor appointment coming up in February (yearly check-up) and I will bring it up to my doctor then but considering my symptoms do you think I should bring it up earlier?

Thank you!

To me, the fact that is bilateral makes it sound pretty much like typical sore achy heavy-feeling hormonal breasts, even if it is different for you and you aren’t necessarily premenstrual. At eighteen your breasts are still changing and developing. If it would make you feel better, you could check in with your doctor-don’t know how much earlier you could get in than the appointment you already have set. My guess is there is nothing dire going on. Have you tried taking some Aleve or Motrin for a few days?
