Hi All,

Could anyone suggest the treatment of sore throat after 5th chemo which is a stronger one as the doctor informed me. It is hard to swallow or even drink fluids.

Also if anyone had blood in the stool, could you please guide me if this is one of the side effects. I am having a sore throat and some blisters on my tongue after 5th chemo.

Any information will be greatly appreciated!

Thanks

Hi CiaWatni, and welcome to Breastcancer.org!

We're so sorry for the reasons that bring you here, but we're really glad you've found us. You're sure to find our Community an amazing source of information, advice, encouragement, and support -- we're all here for you!

We're sorry to hear you're dealing with these side effects of chemo. For the blood in the stool, we'd suggest alerting your doctor to see if this is a side effect of the chemo drugs. We don't have any information on that, though someone may weigh in soon with their experiences. What chemo regimen are you on?

For the sore mouth and throat -- these are a common side effect. The main Breastcancer.org site has a great page that shares some tips to help manage this uncomfortable effect: Mouth and Throat Sores. As well, we have a page on Eating When You Have a Sore Mouth or Throat that you may find helpful!

In addition, we'd suggest you introduce yourself and share your experience on the January 2021 Chemotherapy thread, where you can meet others who are currently undergoing chemo treatment. You'll find great support there!

We hope this helps and we look forward to seeing you around the boards. Please let us know if we can help at all!

Cia - First - it's important that you talk to your doctor about these side effects.

Then, what chemo are you taking? Could you go to 'my profile' and enter your diagnosis & treatment to date? You'll need to make that information 'public' for us all to see it. But that way we can better answer your questions since each drug may have different SEs.
