Radiation decision

Options

Hi all!! I was blessed with an early stage dx, and I opted for a mastectomy. I’m inclined to be aggressive in treatment because I’m 40 with young children. My tumor was less than 2 cm, low grade, no lymph node involvement. I was surprised to be referred to radiology after my surgery, with the 2 risk factors of my age plus lymphovascular space invasion. I’m really on the fence about it - I don’t want to introduce the risk factors and SE from radiation unnecessarily, but I also never want to see this come back. The RO is not pushing it - just offering it, no strong recommendation one way or the other. He cited one Harvard study only that may place me in a category that would benefit from radiation. So - anyone else with a similar dx who has a mastectomy and also radiatio

I’m going to join in here, as I started a thread earlier, and am in a similar situation. I was recommended rads after bmx with no lymph involvement, because of age, cancer type, I did not have pcr, and it was less than 1mm from my skin. I am also curious as to what others have done. I’m leaning towards rads...I want no regrets in the future. My ro could not give me many studies or stats either.

mt- I think I already responded on another thread. But yes, since you are HER2+ my opinion would be to throw everything you can at it - especially since you didn't have pCR with the chemo.
