SAFE TRAVEL PLANS DESPITE COVID.
I'm really sad we've given up two trips to visit with our families...and sometimes ponder why fight my cancer to be holed up at home when my body could fail at any moment. It causes not depression rather anger that the world is in this position. I feel that (IK it's naive and not politically correct) we must "seize the day" & enjoy to the fullest extent each and every moment of every day-not stand by and watch the calendar tick worrying if my NED status at present is going to change tomorrow.
I think if we share ideas...& live vicariously through past present future stories we can all share it Msy break-up mundane quarantine binge watching days.
Ive been very fortunate after age 18 (as I did not travel as a child with my family at all—we did beach days (east coast/Boston style: “if you don’t like the weather, wait a minute) to travel a bit with friends, then before marriage with my husband to be for about 12 years together before we had children; while raising 2 beautiful children now 20 & 21 yo. I’d love to share some stories and HEAR others stories in hopes of taking us away from feeling stick in quarantine!
Thanks-good health and happiness in this new year 2021!

Hi Bailey, not being able to travel is really making me sad as well
One of my most memorable trips were when dh & I and our 2 then teen kids went to Europe in 2012. England, France & Italy. Overnight train from Paris to Venice, visiting an abandoned ancient port city near Rome... It was so great. This laptop doesn't have many of photos of that trip. All I have is a few from 1 day. Here I am in front of the British Museum. We were very interested to see the Rosetta Stone and all the other antiquities there. Spent the whole day inside.

I had several bucketlist trips and concerts canceled or postponed due to covid, which has been very upsetting as I love traveling. DH and I have a mountain cabin that we’ve been building for a few years and it was very uplifting to have a place to safely get away to. We also bought a small travel trailer for short trips within our state. Some have been state parks and some have been beach camping. Perhaps, you could do something similar for a change of scenery and the feel of travel.

I flew in the fall for my sons wedding. It was in Puerto Rico and COVID test results were checked in the airport upon arrival. Anyone who didn’t have negative results to show could get tested on the spot. Otherwise, they were denied entry.
Mask and social distancing rules are strictly enforced there. Our hotel did temperature checks at the entrance. The number of guests allowed at the wedding was limited to 20.
Restaurants are mostly closed except for takeout.
Our plane was fairly crowded both ways, more than I thought it would be. But, to avoid crowded seating , we had booked first class which was 75% empty (Only four seats out of 16 were occupied).
Our home airport was much less crowded than usual, too. I am not on a drug that makes me immune compromised so I felt safe. My doc said it was ok to go but I did have to have a COVID test before my next appt
I had opportunities to travel over the holidays but decided against it, because I was seeing that the airports WERE pretty crowded, for one thing.
I might consider traveling again in the spring though. Some of my family members do not want to have visitors at all and that makes me sad.
There’s always Zoom calls and Face Time, though.
Doing shorter trips like illi suggests is also a great idea

We have a ban on non essential travel. I could not justify a trip. We also now need neg covid tests to return to Canada. I think I'm not budging until covid is under control. We went camping in our province in September and might do something like that again when it warms up but I can't imagine flying anytime soon. Even travel within the province is discouraged right now. Such a strange time.

Such an awesome picture Moth. You look beautiful.
We travel overseas and other states several times per year but during 2020 we stayed home, I mean we didn't even leave the state. My DH feels suffocated ad he is losing his mind
. Kids are OK and honestly, I needed some time off from months of surgeries and cancer treatments so I can't complain.
