rib cage area sore
I actually go for my annual mammogram tomorrow morning, it'll be two years since diagnosed. I notice over the weekend some soreness in my rib cage area the same side as the breast cancer so of course I'm panicking. I had a lumpectomy back in January 2019 and then 6 weeks of radiation that was completed back in April of 2019. Anyone have similar symptoms and it NOT be from something scary.I don't think its the actual rib bones but the tissue in there thats sore feeling Any feedback appreciated. I posted this question under a different forum then I saw this one and thought it was appropriate to post here?

so you have soreness in our rib cage area as well. Maybe its just a side effect, who knows? But mine hasn't always been there, just started feeling sore this weekend.

Soreness around the rib cage is very common and usually not anything serious. It can be caused by lots of things. I've been getting it on and off for years. I don't know if mine is the result of my reconstruction or my osteoarthritis, but either way, it's been coming and going for so long that I don't ever worry about it.
If it were me, I would follow the two week rule to see if it eases on it's own over that time before getting in touch with a doctor.

Thank you so much for responding, makes me feel better to know that it could be normal. And now of course I can't stop feeling around in that area so I'm probably making it even more sensitive lol

I too have some weird feelings on treated side around my ribs. There could still be some post surgery, radiation changes happening. I've never had anything hurt or be bothersome for longer than 2 weeks. It's a good rule.

I have had “Costochondritis... an acute[2] and often temporary inflammation of the costal cartilage, the structure that connects each rib to the sternum at the costosternal joint.” (Wikipedia).
I also sometimes have pain from radiation damage in the rib area on the side of my body. It comes and goes. An underwire bra will set if off. Plenty of scans and no bone mets.

Completed my mammogram this morning and it was clear, I'm so relieved. I will celebrate with a glass of red wine tonight. Thank you all for responding, it really helped to calm me down. My rib area is till sore but I will certainly follow the two week rule, thats a good idea. Wishing us all continued good health.
