Mushroom supplement

Does anyone take mushroom supplements. I met with the oncologist PA today to discuss if it was safe to take. She pulled up the supplement I was looking at and said she didnt see anything but I needed to do more research to see if there are any hormonal effects from the mushrooms. Anyone here take them?

I take turkeytail and a blend called MyCommunity. My oncologist had at least heard of turkey tail and was ok with it. I started after a couple of rounds of AC and took it through that and Taxol, and I swear it made a huge difference.

Cordyceps would be a mushroom to avoid owing to its link to boosting hormone levels. My wife significantly boosted her neutrophil count, by over doubling it, through taking maitake D extract, chaga tea and a mushroom blend, years after ending her chemo that had permanently lowered her neutrophil count. What is amazing is that it did it in less than a month. Whether this has in any way been good for her is unknown, but it certainly boosted neutrophils post chemo. Maitake D has been the subject of at least two North American clinical trials, and it is proven effective at boosting markers of the immune system. The ideal dosage has also been determined by way of a clinical trial, and it is 5 mg/kg/day of maitake d extract. More is not better, as at higher levels it begins to suppress some of the markers.

Wow! I'm learning there is ALOT that you cant yake while taking T. I've decided to be safe and focus on 3 more year on T, then look into supplements.

Sunflower, if you are referring to tamoxifen, there is no reason you can't take maitake d extract or ahcc while on tamoxifen. I would also look into melatonin, as it may assist tamoxifen.
