Does re-starting Ibrance after a "treatment holiday" work?
Hi. I am experiencing a mild amount of progression (still in bone, but a new active spots plus rising tumor markers). I am on Ibrance and Anastrozole since July 2019. My Onc. is recommending a switch to Faslodex, and at the same time take month off of the CDK4/6 inhibitors, then start those back up again. he feels this may help overcome resistance that is developing.
I know there have been studies on this that show it can work in some cases...but would love to hear some good old anecdotal evidence one way or the other. I was doing so well, I feel great etc. so was really hoping I would get more time out of this first line of treatment...
Thanks in advance!

pbsoup, yes taking vacation is an option with ibrance. You will get better information on ibrance thread https://community.breastcancer.org/forum/8/topics/828848?page=797#idx_23899
Post your questions on above thread, and it is good if you complete your signature with information of your diagnosis and treatments, so folks have better idea to help you. Good luck.

Thanks! Sorry to not be savvy about this board...
Sadly the ibrance thread is 700+ pages and I could not find a search function within the thread, so it was not possible to find an answer to my specific question-- which is about overcoming resistance to Ibrance by taking a 'vacation'. I will find out for myself in a month's time though, as that is what my doctor is recommending!
I also could not figure out the signature--and I am normally pretty tech savvy. Perhaps this board is too big for little me...:-)

Pb, I saw ladies that took off some time like months or even years and then get back to ibrance and doing just fine. So don't worry about it:) I meant if you post your questions in ibrance thread, those ladies with similar experience will help you better with details so you feel support and comfort. There are knowledgeable and supportive ladies in ibrance thread that can help you. Ref signature, click on your screen name, it directs you to your profile then fill up the information. Feel free to reach out if you have any questions. (((Hugsss)))

Snow-drop, you can still ask your question on the Ibrance thread, no need to dig for the information. There will be ladies currently contributing to the thread that will gladly jump in and share their experience!

divinmrsm, I am not sure I understand your post, which information I am digging??
-
Snow-drop, its a good question- Divine is saying you do not have to search 700 pages to find relevant information about taking a holiday, just re-post your original question over on that thread. This is because there are way more people reading the Ibrance thread, so it won't take long for you to get some answers

Pbsoup - I do not know about vacations from Ibrance, but Oncologist might lower dose if there are low blood counts. Mine lowered it from 125mg to 100, and was considering to lowering it to 75. Took 3 months for blood counts to start coming back up. On one of the threads on Ibrance I'm sure I've read posts where DR. has person take a "vacation" due to SEs. You might try a search, frustrating because so many misses in finding what you want. If you can't find anything, post your questions on the Ibrance thread, people are very good about sharing information, stories, and experience. IF your Oncoogist knows of research testing whether "vacations" and resuming treatment help with resistance, I would be very interested in those.

curious, I’m not trying to read 700 pages! I just tried to help a newbie (Pbsoup) and encourage her to post her questions on ibrance thread. That is mostly misreading.

Gotcha, sorry I meant to put it to PB
