hi all,

I’ve noticed over the weekend I have a round lump in my armpit, at the top, right side, opposite to treated left breast. I had my flu jab Friday and apparently this can be a side effect! I’ve only finished chemo 2 weeks ago but have been having pain in my right breast since about week 8 of 12 weekly Taxol, I did mention it to the oncologist who just said side effects of chemo. I have an appointment with my consultant this Friday to have a post lumpectomy check, so I know what is my ‘new normal’ on that side. Has anyone had a lump appear on good side so soon after treatment? I’m still having Herceptin and will be until Aug 21, radiotherapy to start Jan 21 and Tamoxifen after. I’m so worried about this lump and pain in my ‘good’ breast

Hi moslmic. Lumps can come and go, as you probably know. If it's a lump that comes and stays, it might be a cause for concern. Since you have an appointment next Friday, you can mention it to your consultant then. Be sure to tell them when you first felt it. I remember finding lump in my armpit one time (years ago) and made an appointment with my PCP. I think it was that same day, and by the time I got to the appointment, it had disappeared. I was kind of embarrassed, but my doctor was kind. When I found my most recent lump in my armpit, it didn't go away. The doctors did ask me a lot of questions to see if it could be related to a bug bite, or some other type of infection. Hopefully yours is related to your recent flu shot.

    Let us know.

    Carol
