Can someone provide advice regarding gum grafting while on lifetime chemo?

My MO said okay to proceed with gum graft during off week Xeloda.

I consulted an endodontist about this when I was (briefly) on afinitor, so I was feeling very cautious about my mouth. He said he could use my own tissue, his preferred way, but which would mean two places to heal, or else he could use synthetic or donor tissue, less preferred but the option I would have chosen in my situation. I wonder if you have such a choice? (But in the end we agreed that the area in question was not as bad as my dentist feared, and I would just be careful of the area and not do any graft.)

SP, I see the endodontist in mid Jan. I am leaning towards the alloderm to repair recession. We will see...

I will have 3 separate gum grafts using the tissue from the roof of my mouth. The gum recession has gotten worse this past year and want to address it now while I feel well. I will plan on my week off Xeloda to have the best possible blood counts.

1st gum graft done. The procedure was quick, now the healing part. Two weeks of no exercise (not even Yoga), soft foods only, ice on swollen jawline, no wine, no caffeine (that ain't happening). I take 600mg Advil for inflammation and Tramadol for pain. My platelets were 100k, ANC 2.3 and Hgb 12 and I was on my week off Xeloda.

Doable. Need to address this issue now before I have to deal wiyh probs with gum, bone infections or tooth extraction.
