Hi Everyone

I'm wondering if anyone else experience the same issue. I have finally completed the 10 years hormonal treatment this year Sep first 5 years on tamoxifen then had my ovaries removed follow by 5 years of Femara. However recently I got told from my routine blood test my thyroid is under-active. I'm not sure if it was due to all the BC treatment. However since my BC is ER+ PR+ I don't think i can be on any hormonal treatment. Does anyone experience the same issue and how do you deal with it.

On top of this i have been suffering chronic UTI for 2 years on and off on antibiotics, again i think its related to lack of hormone.

any comments/suggestion are welcome

    Hi pretty-em,

Breast cancer (hormone positive or not) or its treatment should have no bearing on you being able to take thyroid supplementation medication if needed.

Hi pretty_em, Congratulations!!! I have hypothyroidism and continue taking levothyroxine without any issues. There are some posts on vaginitis or frequent urination that might help you with the frequent UTI's. Best wishes!

agree with Melissa. probably 2 separate issues. I've been on levothyroxine for 18 years and no issues

I had normal thyroid function before beginning treatment but after chemo and radiation, it tested very low and I started levothyroxine about 3 years ago, no problems now but I do wonder what caused it to change.

Hi illimae yeah same as me, I had normal thyroid to slightly low ( but still in the normal range) in fact all the way till i finished the 10 years treatment, I'm somehow these medicines triggered the low thyroid or a delay response from chemo/radio but then that was very delayed response.

Hi everyone. I was diagnosed with hypothyroidism about 3 months ago. After taking levothyroxine for 6 weeks they retested my TSH, T4 and did a Thyroid Peroxidase Antibody test. Levels of these antibodies in the blood shows an attack on the thyroid by the immune system. My number was sky high for the antibodies. So it's an autoimmune disorder for me, and for most who have hypothyroidism it is caused this way apparently.
