Oncotype or Mammaprint on biopsied tissue?

Hi all,

I was just diagnosed with ER+/PR+/HER2- invasive ductal carcinoma. I'm still waiting for my surgery date but have been anxious to get more test results. Does anyone know if more genetic testing (Oncotype/Mammaprint) can be done off the core biopsy samples? I'm just worried about continuing to wait for results. Thanks in advance.

From what I've seen on this site, Oncotype or Mammaprint testing is sometimes done using biopsy samples but much more often is done using surgery tissue. I believe that a certain amount of tissue is required and I think in many cases there isn't enough viable tissue left from the biopsy sample after the IHC testing for ER, PR and HER2.

Originally I was told the oncotype would be done from the biopsy tissue, but then it was decided to wait until there was a larger sample post surgery. The waiting is awful.

    Good luck!

My Oncotype was performed using my biopsy tissue. In hindsight I wish my surgeon would have waited. My lymph nodes were clinically negative, but discovered 3 positive nodes with surgery. I think the Oncotype is run differently if node positive (up to 3 nodes). My oncologists were surprised the surgeon did it on the biopsy sample.

My oncotype used my biopsy tissue.
