Will you get the covid vaccine!

SpecialK, you sound like my allergy and health situation, and I, too, am happy to report having the first Pfizer shot Wednesday and all went well. I'm looking forward to the growing protection level by the 2nd week after second shot, but meanwhile still wearing mask and distancing. All the best for good results from your health workups and recovery from skin cancer surgery.
-
I got super lucky and was able to sign up for the first shot next Wednesday! It is quite far from my house, but that is fine. I can't wait! My husband gets his first shot tomorrow.
-
I actually received the first shot a few days before my diagnosis. I was lucky enough to qualify to get it through my job so I received my second shot a couple of weeks ago. Be prepared before anyone gets the second shot, I was pretty sick for about 24 hours after. I had a lot of breast pain & tenderness afterwards too for at least a week. I haven't started any cancer treatment yet.
-
I had to post, because I’m so excited. I was just now able to book for Wednesday next week. I have been stalking all sites since out governor just added cancer as a high risk condition. I’m not going to lie, I’m crying some happy tears! Feels like a light at the end of a really long year. I haven’t seen my dad since Christmas of 2019 and pre cancer. I t was so hard going through treatment without him. Iam going to give him the biggest hug ever!
-
So glad cm & Poppy! I get Moderna #2 on Thursday and I am thrilled.
-
thank you, Ruth! Hope you’re feeling ok! My dad had Moderna and he had no SEs at all. Hoping you had the same experience. I’ve started calling him “the tank”
-
ceanna - congrats to you, and all, for getting your first shot! Trying to decide what to do was a bit nerve wracking but I'm feeling good about the decision. I hope all goes smoothly for you with the second one - there is light at the end of this tunnel - for all of us, I hope. Appreciate the kind thoughts for the skin cancer recovery, you are sweet. Unfortunately, when I have the stitches removed in two weeks I have to have another cancer surgically removed. These two lesions are next to each other and they can't be removed at the same time as they will pull on each other. I have had many of these over the last 30 years so I have learned to take it in stride, a minor inconvenience in the grand scheme of things.
Ruth - I hope your second Moderna goes well - my son, in his early 30's, was laid out by Moderna #2, as was my BIL, who is my age. Both short lived responses though - fine after 24 hours. Worth it for the protection.
-
Yes, I will gladly take a day of lying low if that means I can see my family, have a 4th of July party in my backyard, and maybe even travel for pleasure again!
-
I got the Moderna and am now 2 weeks out from my 2nd dose. My only side effect both times was a sore arm. Same for my husband. I’m a teacher and now the majority of my school building staff have gotten both rounds in. I’d say majority of us had fewer side effects (sore arm, some fatigue/headache) and only a handful had more significant SEs (fever, chills, extreme fatigue).

I just got my husband an appt. through my PCP. They contacted me, but I have already had mine (teacher) so I asked about my husband and they said yes. He had registered with the state site at least a month ago but hadn’t been contacted. So excited to see so many people getting vaccinated. Unfortunately, at my school about 1/4 of staff chose not to get it.

I'm getting my first shot in a few hours. I had tried going through our state sign-up, but those locations were all in rural areas as far as possible from where I live. It's our foul governor's way of keeping the urban poor unvaccinated since there's no public transportation to those sites. I have a car and the time, but I refuse to normalize what he's doing. Luckily, I had also signed up through MyChart, and that gave me a lot of local options for location, date, and time.

I received the J & J vaccine on the 10th. I am not sure if I got the best vaccine out there but I did what they advise and took the one I was offered. Very happy! It is still very effective at keeping people out of the hospital and from dying and that is why I wanted a vaccine!
I received it via my school district. If I wasn't working for the school, who knows when I would have been vaccinated?
My only issue was a little soreness and redness at the site. I was tired the next day but I can't say it was from the vaccine because I believe it was from the complete relief of anxiety and fear of getting Covid that I have had since going back to work at the end of August. We are still getting four or more positive cases weekly in the middle school I work at, Friday we were told we had 2 more.
My husband got the Pfizer vaccine and has his second shot next week. I am extremely thankful!!!!

mavericksmom,
Please listen to the doctors and researchers who are telling us there is no “best” vaccine. Remember that the annual flu vaccine is less effective than any of the COVID vaccines! As to when you might have been vaccinated had you not been in education? Well, vaccines are now in greater supply so you would have waited your turn like anyone else. I am really happy for you because I know your fear was very real. One of my colleagues has been very fearful but is doing a bit better now that she’s had her vaccine. Fear is very personal and very stressful.
-
I got my second vaccine today (Moderna). I did not expect to be scheduled so early but my care team said I'm high risk (I do have reactive airway disease, so perhaps that's why?). Regardless, I got the first vaccine when offered and scheduled the second one on the spot.
I would have taken whatever vaccine was offered, although the J&J wasn't in my area on Valentine's Day. So Moderna it is.
-
I got my first vaccine (Pfizer) today. I am SO happy and relieved to have been able to get it. April 6th will be my second one. My husband got his first one this past weekend (Moderna).
-
I got my second vaccine (Moderna) on Sunday, March 14. I felt pretty crummy Monday but was fine by Tuesday night.
-
I got my second Moderna today! Other than being really cold (which is the same way I felt after #1), I feel fine.
-
Hi ladies. I got my 1st dose yesterday ( Pfizer). So far just a sore arm.
-
Congratulations to those who got shots recently! Especially those that are now fully vaccinated!!!
-
I won’t be getting it. I haven’t gotten a vaccine in probably 22 years, so this one wouldn’t be the one I start with 😂. Honestly, I have so many questionable health issues right now—the last thing I want to do is complicate things with thisvaccine.
-
I got my second dose Pfizer last Tuesday. I did have some pretty overwhelming fatigue that started 2 days after the shot. It passed after about 24 hours (and lots of sleep). I'm so happy and relieved to be fully vaccinated. My husband got his second Moderna vaccine Friday. My son and daughter will also be fully vaccinated (Pfizer) by the end of the week.
-
In my neighborhood there is a small pod of vaccinated folks. We got together in my backyard for outdoor brunch. Grateful for vaccines.
-
Apatheticboob, Have you discussed your decision with your PCP? If it's truly a valid medical decision, it's a good one. But if you're basing it on "It might be a problem" without the medical expertise to back it up, I would think getting Covid would be MUCH more problematic for your other conditions than the vaccine (or any vaccine) would be.
-
I had both Moderna shots by end of Feb. No problems. Slight soreness on my arm. My DD and family contracted COVID last month and are now doing fine. They think it came from school. The kids had head-aches and low fever on and off for a few days. My DD and her hubby are in their mid-30's and hubby was in bed for a few days. They are healthy. They had fatigue, chills, head-ache, chest tightness and shortness of breath. Symptoms lasted over a week. Thankfully, they are past it.. She said it was harder on them than she thought it would be. Now, I can see them also and life feels almost normal again!:) I went out to eat (on the patio) for the first time in a yr with a friend last week. I hope you all stay well:).

I'm in South America and no brand of Covid vaccine has been made available to my age group yet. I am still on the fence about having it because I already had a huge pulmonary embolism at the end of my chemo 10 years ago and had to take warfarin with my anastrozol, etc. for a few years. Although I was told that chemotherapy could have been the cause of the embolism, I was also diagnosed with half of a gene pair of some kind of blood clotting problem. Unfortunately, I no longer have the test results of the blood test. I live in a smallish place in the middle of nowhere and really don't want a blood clot here (my embolism happened when I was living in a large city and I was really lucky to get treated in time).
I am still waiting and wondering if I should have the vaccine when it is finally offered ...
-
I had my second Moderna vaccination yesterday and I feel horrible. I have a strange headache, chills, fever, aches and nausea with failed hot flashes on top of that from the Zoladex and Anastrazole. I'm trying to take solace in the idea that this is confirmation that my immune system recognizes something resembling the virus. I wish I had had the foresight to buy some soup and Tylenol on the way home though.
-
I had the Pfizer vaccine and experienced no side-effects, other than a sense of relief
-
If it is any consolation WC3, everyone I know that had side effects felt better after 24-36 hrs. Sleep seemed to be the best remedy. Hope you feel better soon.
-
It seems that young people with a strong immune system are having more severe SE of vaccine than older people. The opposite of what covid-19 virus is doing. I scheduled my vaccine for tomorrow.
-
I managed to find a Tylenol last night which seemed to help a little but I've been in bed all day. The headache and chills began to return in the afternoon. I'm feeling better now but I'm still achy and tired.
