Period returned after discontinuing 5yrs on Tamoxifen?

I have not had a period in over 5 years. It stopped after my first chemo in 2015. I was 45 when I went through chemo and started Tamoxifen. I am now 50 and my MO said that there is a slight chance that my period could return. I will not be happy if that happens. I have been dealing with menopause symptoms for 5 years and do not want to go through all of this again. She still considers me pre-menopausal due to the fact that I was very regular before chemo. She also said testing my hormone levels right now would be unreliable. I need to wait for a few months until the Tamoxifen is out of my system.

I am taking a 2 month break and then we will evaluate how I feel. She has told me I can stop taking Tamoxifen for good. The most she will have me takeit is for 2 more years. We will decide in February at which time she will test my hormone levels.

I think average age of menopause is 52, so yes, it is entirely possible that you could still be perimenopausal and not quite “done” yet when you come off tamoxifen
