Hey Gang,

Just got the bone biopsy results and I have Mets to bone and onco believes it’s in the liver also, although it was not biopsied yet. My Dr is recommending cycles x 21 days of Kadcyia and adding Zometa 2nd cycle and repeating every 6 weeks Wondering if any of you have history with this regiment? Sounds like there can be a scary side effect of jaw issues with Kadcyia Oncologist says they don’t typically retreat with the original chemo that was used on me in 2008 . My head is spinning, my husband is heartbroken so many moving parts right now bone scans, brain MRI, Echo car diagram, port placement alll happening in a week!! Would love feedback from you all ! ❤️❤️

Hi AquaD, I'm so sorry you find yourself here. There's an active kadcyla thread which you'll find useful. Also consider updating your profile and signature line so we can better understand your dx and treatments.

There are also active threads for bone mets and liver mets which will be a good source of info and support.

Hang in there. It gets a bit better once you're in treatment. It sucks but it does get a bit better

    Hi AquaD

I commenced Kadcyla back in February after several brain tumors were discovered. I had previously been treated for liver and bone Mets for over 18months. I then had Whole brain radiation along with Kadcyla every 3 weeks and Zometa every 4 weeks. Initially I was quite unwell requiring daily personal care and managing a high risk of falls and memory deficits. I gradually improved and after 4 months the tumors had shrunk significantly. I have just completed my 14th cycle of Kadcyla and have returned to an acceptable level of functioning. I have bone pain in my hips and spine, fatigue, dry mouth and a few other ailments but nothing that I could really consider a side effect. My oncologist suggested that there is little literature on the impacts of Kadcyla beyond 14 cycles but she suggested we continue the current regime and monitor my progress. Note I’ve been on the Zometa now for about 2 years with no side effects.

So far so good so hang in there!
