Recovery in the time of Covid

So, I scheduled my BMX w/o reconstruction for November 24th. I am wondering about how much time I need to take off of work, considering that I work from home and will be working from home through mid-May. All I do is sit in an armchair and type, sometimes attend Zoom meetings, where I don't have to turn on my camera if I don't want to. My department (I'm the supervisor) is going through a major reorganization right now, and I know my presence, even via Zoom, will help calm the waters. What do you all think?

    hi jksmahoney

I don't know if this is much help but here's what it's been like for me. I had a UMX on Tuesday with a tissue expander and I'm doing pretty good pain wise. Are you getting nodes removed. I think I hurt worse under my arm than my breast area. That's the thing I notice most. Can't use my arm very well. It is would hard to brush your hair. I'm still taking Norco 5/325 but only 1 in the morning 1 at night. I'm tired and listless but that's common for me after surgery. I'm also 70 years old. LOL As they say, your mileage will vary. Good luck.

I had BMX with SNB on Monday, August 31. I am working from home, by phone, since COVID. I worked a few hours that Thursday and a couple hours that Friday. That was enough. I did not use pain medication once I left recovery other than Ibuprofen and Acetaminophen. I slept 10 hours per night for weeks and still sleep quite a bit (used to sleep ave. of 7 hours prior to surgery) and was quite tired during the days for some weeks after surgery even if I rarely napped. By the Monday after surgery I worked 4 per day which is nearing my normal - I work half-time. It helped me the first month or so to build in 1/2 hour breaks just so I could get up and move around, take a break, etc. That may not be possible for you (I'm self-employed) though trying to build in some additional breaks may be helpful where you can initially.
