Carmel colored discharge with pain
6 months ago I had 2 biopsy’s done In The same breast as they were noticed on a breast MRI. They did the core biopsy where they take a sliver out of each of them. The results were negative for cancer. Fast forward to now where I have been having pain in my left breast, like sharp pain, almost like mastitis pain. My instinct was to try and express my breast and what I got was a Carmel looking discharge. Unlike any breast discharge I had ever seen. I called my breast surgeon and she saw me the next day. Doing the little paper test it obviously showed blood. I am now having a duct excision in Nov 18th. I’m scared but then again I feel like it’s a dramatic action especially since the other biopsies were negative 6 months ago. Is it possible for this to be something new? I was thinking maybe it’s an infection I developed from having those marking clips put in where the biopsies were done. Ugh I have so many emotions.
And BTW I have been able to express milk from both breasts since I stopped breastfeeding 15 years ago. I had 2 sets of twins and breastfeed each set for a year. I just always thought my poor body just thinks it’s normal for the milk, and yes I have had my pituitary gland checked out. I just want to know if anyone out there has heard of this kind of thing. Or if I’m just a wierd case. TI

Hello,
I just posted about brown discharge I am having. I am similar to you in that my breaks have been able to leak fluid for many years, 20+. I have had my prolactin level checked over the years and have had my pituitary checked too. The brown discharge is new, and scary.
I don’t have an answer to your post, but ours were similar so I wanted to reply. I have spent a ton of time on this site and Google. I read blood in nipple discharge can be from papillomas and not always from cancer.
It is so difficult to be this anxious isn’t it

yes it’s very frustrating. I have a very strong family history of breast cancer and I have a feeling that is why the dr is being so proactive with mine. But she did say no matter what if there is blood in the discharge the protocol is to do the duct excision due to a Small chance of being cancerous. Idk. I think the worst part is the unknown and I have not had too much luck on google or anywhere else with stories like mine. Thanks for responding. I will keep you updated after surgery next week. Please chime in if you find anything out on your end.

I hope you are recovering well from your duct excision.
