Radiation changes or angiosarcoma

Hi everyone,

I recently posted here about radiation changes around My nipple and areola. I had bc treatment and rads that finished in Feb 2018. At that time, my areola seemed to shrivel and get a rubbery/leathery texture whenever cold etc.

Anyway, I'd always been assured that it was radiation related. I had a baby in June of this year, and bottle fed as I was freaked out about lumps and bumps appearing if I breast fed, but milk must have been trying to come in to my bad boob, as I felt hardening under my arm, so made an appointment with my mo, who did an ultrasound and examination and mammo. They said the hardening was just the lymph being a little backed up, nothing bad on the mammo or us either, just the mammo had noted the thickened areola was a tiny bit thicker but still within the realms of what was to be expected so no worries.

About a month went by, and I received a call from another doc in my mo office, who asked could I do a telephone consultation as they were trying to keep people out of the hospital, I said of course but was this needed as I'd only been there a month previously. He said he hadn't seen this and went back through my notes, he read the mammo report and asked had I had a core biopsy as it had been noted that I was worried about the thickening and was recommended if this was the case. I ended up going back for this and two core biopsies were inconclusive, they noted funny looking vessels but the MO said radiation damage causes all sorts of odd things, anyway because of the inconclusive results and my history, a multi disciplinary committee recommended that I have an excisional biopsy, which I did last week. I went back today and AGAIN no definitive answer. MO said the good news was that no cancerous cells were found but the vessels could look like either early stage angio OR radiation damage and that close follow up with three monthly exams is recommended. She also said my boobs don't look like there is any angiosarcoma she has ever seen, as there is no skin marks or bruising of any kind, and she is FAIRLY confident that it's still just radiation damage.

Has anyone else ever gone through anything similar? I feel like I opened a can of worms and I'm just going to worry all the time.

Thank you
