Exemestane (Aromasin) and unilateral pain?

Hi all,

I started exemestane 2 weeks ago after stopping anastrozole (Arimidex) in August because of severe joint pain.

I'm now experiencing terrible, unrelenting pain again, but this time unilaterally - only my left leg - and this time it's more muscular, rather than joint-related.

Has anyone ever experienced pain unilaterally? I'm trying to determine if this truly from the drug. The pain from anastrazole was more gradual, growing in increasing intensity through the year I managed to stay with it. This pain had a more acute start and is at a higher level than the anastrozole.

I haven't been able to find any discussion/articles/citations about one-sided pain, so I'm reaching out to all of you. Anyone else have a similar experience and if so, what did you do?

Thanks in advance,

Amy

Perhaps your pain is not connected to the Exemestane. Can you get a referral to see a physical therapist? I had muscle pain in one leg and it was (ultimately) diagnosed as an IT band issue. It was incredibly painful and my PCP had no idea what it was. (I had bilateral muscle pain on Anastrozole but it disappeared when I switched to Exemestane.) No guarantee, but physical therapists can be magicians at identification and treatment of muscle pain if this is not connected to your AI. Good luck. Sometimes the hardest part of dealing with pain is identifying the cause!

    Thanks JKL2017 for your reply.

I do believe the problem is my IT band and I'm working with a massage therapist in hopes of releasing/relaxing it.
