Please Read and Help Needed
Hello,
I am not sure where to post this, so please let me know if I am in the wrong place. I was dx'd with BC in October 2015 with Stage I IDC and have been cancer free till now.
Today I got the results of a uterine biopsy. If anyone can please, please help me decipher this, I will be eternally grateful.
Diagnosis: Serous Neoplasm
Comment: There are neoplastic cells with high grade nuclear atypia and abnormal staining for both P53 and P-16, and significantly increased staining for Ki-67. Some neoplastic cells are present in the morphology of serous endometrial intraepithelial carcinoma (Serous EIC), but there are also detached neoplastic cells. In the biopsy setting, this is better classified as "minimalserous carcinoma". For surgical management purposes, it is recommended to treat this tumor as a high grade carcinoma, serous type.
My oncologist told me we are not sure if it is cancer or pre-cancer, but because the cells are high-grade we need to treat it as cancer until we get the full pathology results. The next step is probably a hysterectomy to get a full picture and do a surgical pathology.
Can someone help me? Has anyone gone through this? How scared should I be? BTW, I did not take tamoxifan.
Thank you to everyone who takes the time to read and respond to this.

Don't know anything about what you posted, but I recommend you talk with your doctor about the report. Best wishes!

I do not know about specifics of the report you posted. I am just glad you reached out! Support is so important at times like this. I'm also glad you are already working with an oncologist. It is most important you have a plan and it sounds like you all are very close on proceeding. Since you had IDC you may want to try posting in that forum. It is possible others there may have had something like this happen. I wish you well!

Citrinetiff, I am going to refer you to the Hystersisters website. I had a rare ovarian cancer and actually connected to a few other people who had it there. They have lots of forums for different gynecological cancers, including uterine. You may get more information over there than here.

kmntwins from BCO.org was diagnosed with Serous Carcinoma in 2019. (She posted about it on the Chemo in July 2014 board.) Yes, she ended up with a hysterectomy, plus chemo. Maybe, you can send her a PM? I'm not sure how often she checks this board (last time she checked in was May 4, 2020). She did find chemo easier the second time.
She did check out hystersisters, as MelissaDallas suggested.
Here is the page where kmntwins announced her Serous Carcinoma diagnosis:

Another recommendation for Hystersisters; it's a fabulous support community like this one, plus all kinds of information is available. I had endometrial/uterine cancer twelve years ago, and I had a very thorough hysterectomy. Unfortunately, I don't know any details about the grade, or even the stage. I'm assuming stage 2 because it had invaded the uterus a bit. I also didn't have chemo, and didn't know it was standard until years later, because the SOB oncological gynecologist told me "Go home, do not worry, I have cured you!" What arrogance! So far, so good, I guess. I've also had breast cancer and kidney cancer since, and I have to hope they're not connected.

thank you, everyone, for the kind words and the suggestions to check out hypersisters and the thread on this board. Thsnk you

I agree with MelissaDallas regarding the HysterSisters website. I had my hysterectomy in 2005 and it was a life-safer for me. Lots of good information and support.

Sunshine, thank you. I will check out HyperSisters. I met with a gyno-oncologist and I will be having a full hysterectomy in the coming weeks. She couldn't tell me if it's definitely cancer, but even if it's not, it is definitely precancerous and extremely aggressive. After the surgery I will know for sure if it's cancer, and I will then get genetic testing since I had an aggressive bc and now an aggressive uterine (pre) cancer. Can I just say that I am terrified?
