I’ve officially been diagnosed on 10/15. I’ve had 3 weeks since my BIRADs 5 ultrasound to come to terms with the diagnosis so the phone call on Thursday wasn’t a shock. I was relieved to get a bit more info, even though it wasn’t much.

My report had nothing regarding hormones or HER2. When I asked the radiologist about it she seemed confused and said usually the report had those things marked as pending and mine didn’t. Are these not automatically checked for in a biopsy? Or is there usually a delay? I waited a full week for my results, I assumed it would be pretty complete.

what I do know is it’s IDC grade 2 (tubular formation 3, nuclear 2, mitotic 1) with DCIS also found in both samples. DCIS is intermediate grade, one cribiform and one solid. They biopsied two spots in the same quadrant. I’ve read that finding both IDC and DCIS could be a good sign. Anyone have insight on that? Is it commonto have both show up in one little sample?

My appt with a surgeon is this Thursday. Looking forward to getting a lot of questions answered.

WorriedmominNJ , You really won't get much more information until you have surgery. Your BS should be able to answer your questions about hormones. Write your questions down. Everything moves fast and it is at times overwhelming. Best wishes.
