Pathology completed, provider says hasn't received?

I had a biopsy for a hypoechoic mass with slightly angular margins last Friday morning. I have been stalking my patient portal and this morning the "Pathology pending" items was updated to "Pathology complete" with a not clickable (at least to me) pdf document name.

I gave it a few hours and called my provider for the results, but they said they aren't in yet. I am of course reading into it (if it was normal they would just tell me right then even if the doctor or nurse isn't in to tell me, but if its abnormal then they would want to wait to have the right person give the news.

Any reason you can think why either they would not have received the results or why they wouldn't tell me?

Usually doc has to review results first, even if path is done. Doesn’t mean bad or good results. Hangloose as best you can, you’ll find out either way soon enough.

While the Pathology department may have clicked on "Pathology complete", there may be a final sign off required before the report is released. That's happened to me. Or it could be that the report is done but the portal haven't received it yet. Or the the lag time might be because the portal people have to turn it into a PDF to post it, and that's a different department from Pathology.

If there is a 'Help' phone number for the portal, you could call them to ask about their process of posting results and why the report is noted as being complete but isn't posted yet.
