Does the Worrying Ever Go Away?

Options

I've been playing the not-so-fun game I call Bone Mets or Sciatica? It keeps me awake. I play all night long, and I can't stop Googling and scaring myself silly. I've been having a lot of lower back, hip and leg pain. Finally went to my PCP on Monday, and she ordered X-rays, which showed osteoarthritis and a compression fracture of my L2 vertebra. I haven't had any falls or injuries, so this is perplexing. Saw my MO today, and she says it might be osteoporosis. She can't rule out recurrence, though, so I need an MRI.

I'm just waiting for the phone call to schedule the MRI. Waiting is the worst. It's very hard to focus on anything else.

Will we always assume the worst? And does the worrying ever go away?

Just dropping back by to say I had my MRI today. My MO called as soon as she got the results: "no evidence for metastases in the lumbar spine." The compression fracture is apparently an old injury. There are a lot of degenerative changes with my spine, but all is well.
