Nipple discharge

I have a clear, watery yellowish nipple discharge coming from my left nipple only. It only comes out if I squeeze it. I have had it since I stopped breastfeeding my son 2 1/2 years ago. There is no pain or bad smell. No other symptoms either. The discharge will have blood mixed with it if I keep squeezing my nipple but it goes away by the next day. I did have a mammogram and ultrasound done back in May and the technician and Dr didn't see anything suspicous. They told me verbally that I had a clogged milk duct at 9 o'clock under the nipple but in the report it says I have a mildly prominent milk duct. Also, if I don't mess with my nipple such as squeeze it for a few days to a week I can feel a small area of the dilated duct under my nipple but if I squeeze it and some of the fluid comes out I can't feel the dilated duct anymore. Could this diagnosis be wrong or am I just overthinking it all and should just take the dr's word for it?

I don't know if you are over-thinking it, but it does sound as though you may be causing a bigger problem by continually squeezing your nipple.

Clear, watery, yellowish discharge is not usually anything to be concerned about. Bloody discharge can be a concern but it sounds as though your constant squeezing is causing the irritation that is leading to some blood being mixed in with the discharge. The blood does not sound to be spontaneous.

    Were you breast feeding?

And what were you told to do about the blocked / prominent duct?

Yes, I did breastfeed but it's been over 2 yrs since I stopped. The Dr said it may or may not ever go away. That it's just my body changing bc I'm getting older, I'm 36 years old don't know if that helps but he said it's common with women that are premenopausal. I know I may be causing the bleeding by overly messing with my nipple but I have OCD and just knowing it's there is triggering the impulse to squeeze it. Also, yes the fluid ONLY comes out if I squeeze my nipple. Thank you for responding to my post.

I had a cysts that caused nipple discharge however, your doctor would be the right person to ask.
