Freaking out. Lump plus enlarged lymph nodes

Hey all. I recently found a decent sized irregular lump in my left breast. Went for mammogram and ultrasound Wed. I’m usually an information-a-holic but was so freaked out that I really didn’t get much. What I remember is that the ultrasound tech was the one that talked to me after and she said it was the lowest level 4 and many of them come back negative. BUT she also said they saw 2 enlarged lymph nodes of which they are going to biopsy one and that’s what’s freaking me out. Trying not to read right now but I’m super scared. My biopsy is Oct 8th. Pretty much thinking the worst possible outcome.

Worse, the very young/new doc that I saw thought she felt something additional that far as I can tell turned out to be nothing and asked me if my legs hurt and said she was sending me directly to a surgeon (didn’t happen). My hip has been bugging me, although that’s happened for years, and now of course I notice more weird pains in my legs all the time and I can feel my lymph nodes in my neck acting up, which also happens from time to time to me anyway.

I think I’ve exhausted the listening ears of my family and best friend, who really don’t know what to say anyway. Just looking for any possible positives, if they exist.

So, it sounds like whatever they are looking at as “lowest 4” means a Bi-Rads 4a, which generally means it is a 10% or lower chance of being cancer. As to the lymph nodes, they get enlarged for all kinds of reasons. I had one biopsied at one of my breast biopsies. She told me at the time that she really didn’t think it was anything and she was correct. At this point I think you have every reason to be optimistic. Try not to worry too much in the meantime

Hi, and thank you. I appreciate the reminder to wait and see. It’s hard to be in full panic mode all the time! To add to the fun, my husband travels for work and he’s back in town, but I have chronic asthma and crappy lungs and he’s exposed to a lot of people so he’s not even staying at the house atm because of COVID concerns. Leaves me a lot of alone time.

Is your name Melissa? Mine too. 😊
