Eyebrow serum

Hi, I had TAC chemo nine years ago and my hair has never grown back as thickly as prior to chemo.

I have one eyebrow that has an extended bare patch. Occasionally, hairs regrow there but they fall out quickly.

I note there are many eyebrow growth serums on the market. I'm wondering if anyone can recommend a product that is sure to work. I've used Minoxidil a bit but it comes in a bottle and is awkward to apply.

Thanks for any recommendations. R.

Hi Racy. I'm sorry you have this scanty eyebrow! Mine aren't quite as thick and dark as they used to be, which is disappointing.

I don't have any advice about serums. However, when my eyebrows were completely gone, I bought and used an eyebrow powder. The brand name is Benefit in the US. Looks like it might be the same in Australia. I could draw on my eyebrows and they looked real! Unless someone was very close to me (and we don't need to worry about that these days!) it wasn't possible to tell. Now I used it to darken and fill in the brows, on the few days I'm using makeup.

Benefit was expensive (to this person who only buys drugstore makeup) but it was worth it to me, and when it is gone, I expect I'll get another. Hope this helps.

    Hi Racy,

I am just starting treatment, so I'm not sure how it works after the hair is gone, but I was told to use Latisse from my MS. She said that it may help not lose eyelashes and eyebrows during chemo. Not sure if it will work or not, but I can tell you that I am using it and my eyelashes and eyebrows have grown like crazy in just a week.

I did use Latisse during chemo. While my eyebrows thinned, I never lost them. I did loose all the hair on my head, but I could wear a wig or a scarf. To me the eyebrows were critical to make me feel normal.

you can use Latisse on brows? I didn’t know that. Maybe I’ll try it.

There’s also a procedure called microblading , sort of like temporary tattooing, I think it lasts about a year.

I was going to do microblading before chemo but the timeline was not good, I was too close to starting and the risk of infection was there, so I passed.

But, since my already over-plucked brows are now sparser than before, I’m considering microblading again.

I do quite well with brow makeup, Wonder Brow is great for withstanding sweat and even swimming, but Im craving a remedy that’s a little more permanent lately

Olma - I used Latisse before & during chemo. Not sure how it could work after the eyebrows are already gone.
