What was your cancerous armpit “lump” like?

Hi all,

I am just wondering about lumps. About 3 weeks ago while showering I was shaving my armpits and noticed that one side had kind of a bump. The other side is totally flat. Well, I wasn’t actually concerned about it AT ALL, until I came across something where a woman said that her first sign was exactly that. A lump she noticed while shaving in the shower. So, I have a mammo and a u/s scheduled for next week. Still not overly worried, but I am intensely curious.

My question is... whats a lump!? There is very little to be found online. I feel like I read a lot about people having actual hard roundish specific lumps. What I have isn’t that at all. Its more of a large kind of grainy (?) something that protrudes when I lift my arm. Is that a lymph node? It doesn't seem to fit the description of little round pea type balls. Also, when my arm is down I either don’t know how to find it, or just can’t feel it.

Anyone who has gone through this have anything similar? I had communication with a friends mom a while ago who said her lymph nodes weren’t a “perfect lump” but I didn’t want to question her since shes currently in hospice.

I would appreciate honest experiences no matter if its a desired outcome or not.
