Mom recent cancer diagnosis
Hi everyone,
I'm 32 yo women and my mom is 58 yo. She's just been diagnosed with Invasive Ductal Carcinoma grade 3, ER+, PR+, HER2- and I'm very concerned about her. Cancer is such a strong word and I've been crying everyday since her diagnosis, two weeks ago, obviously not in front of her.
Both my brother and I will take care of mom, but in reality I'll be the main caregiver; I'm both excited to spend more time with her but I'm also very scared about how her body will handle chemotherapy, I'm afraid she'll suffer and she won't take it. When I talk to my boyfriend and friends about this they don't really understand what I'm going through, even though they're supporting me. I'm afraid I will not be able to comfort my mom during these tough times; nobody really knows how she's feeling, and even though we've cried together, I'm making my best effort to cheer her up
It's amazing to read everyone in this forum and I hope everyone finds peace in their everyday lives. It's hard to focus on work / life when this is going on in my family.
Sorry for my english, my native language is spanish and I'm based in Mexico, so there aren't that many resources as support groups here as in the US.

I know you can read in here in Spanish and get a lot of good information as well and believe there are others there who may be able t help direct you to doctors there as well to help treat her.
If she has that ER+/PR+/Her2- that is better and can be treated sometimes without chemo.
If she has not done ONCO testing you may want to find that out and it will help give you a determination if she'll need it or not (for me it was not beneficial to take it so I did not).
She will need help with surgery recovery and may need assistance afterwards since she may not be able to lift for a bit or drive for a little while either.
Read through this site well and I know there is a link to put things in Spanish to help you. Best wishes to you both.

Hello dcorona19. No need to apologize for your English, and it's actually very good. If you prefer Spanish, I'd be glad to communicate with you that way. Just wanted to encourage you and your Mother. Not going to lie, this isn't an easy road, but it's true what people will tell you, that the first days are hardest until you have a plan and can start moving forward. As for chemo, I don't know what regimen will be recommended to your mother, if any and none of them are anything anyone would choose to do if they had another choice, but many women here are able to function pretty well while going through chemo. You will find a lot of support here, so don't be afraid to reach out in English or Spanish. No están solas. Yo soy casi la misma edad que tu mamá. Si ella quisiera platicar con alguien, dile que me mande un PM. No soy experta de todo eso, como muchas en este sitio, pero puedo escucharle.
