28 yr old, Dimple on left breast
Pretty concerned. Noticed a dimple on my left breast near the bottom a little while back and didn't think much of it because it lies in the same path as a noticeable vein. I figured it might have something to do with the vein or be because I was over weight. I've lost 20+ lbs and the dimple is still there. I'm not sure if it correlates with my period (which starts today).
Does a breast dimple always mean IBC or BC?
At 28 I know its entirely possible for it to be cancer but maybe unlikely. I don't have BC history in the fam AFAIK but lots of regular cancer. My dad had lung (rare form, non smoker) and testicular and survived both. My grandfather died of stomach cancer in his 40s. Grandmother, lung cancer at 65 from a life time of smoking, died. Other grandfather died of leukemia due to Agent Orange exposure.

I don't understand at all how you could possibly arrive at a dimple correlating to IBC. Apparently you are Googling, but IBC has very specific symptoms and a dimple is not one of them as far as I know. IBC is very rare, with an average onset age of about sixty.
If you are concerned you should always make an appointment with your doctor for an exam and, if indicated, ultrasound and/or mammogram.
Significant weight loss could certainly affect the physical appearance of your breast, not having anything to do with cancer.

Hi MMKD,
We're sorry you find yourself here and worrying. As MelissaDallas said, we always recommend that anyone with a breast concern take it to their doctor for further evaluation. It's rare for someone your age to have breast cancer to begin with, and very, very rare that it would be IBC. However, for peace of mind, a medical exam should be scheduled.
We hope you get answers and relief soon!

To your question, "Does a breast dimple always mean IBC or BC?", the answer is "Absolutely not."
I agree with MelissaDallas that you should get it checked out. Any breast change should be checked out, if it doesn't resolve on it's own within a couple of weeks. Most breast changes are benign, but it's better to see a doctor and if necessary, get screening, just to be on the safe side.

How are you seeing the bottom of your breast? Do you physically lift the breast to do that? That could cause what appears to you as a dimple.

Its basically impossible to spot/not visible when I'm resting my arms at my side. I can see it only when I lift my arm over my head.
