fine needle aspirate charges

I'm a new mom 33 years old(baby is 4 mo.) I've had a lump In my right breast for 2 years. Annual ultrasounds consistent with fibroadenoma.
Lump grew significantly postpartum. I went for an ultrasound which showed significant enlargement and possible necrotic center.

Scheduled for core biopsy. They aspirate the mass prior to starting the procedure and get milk. Radiologist decides to do a fine needle aspirate with ultrasound guidance.

my insurance was billed over 7500 dollars. (Including pathology, but not including the first ultrasound)

Is this normal? I'm in complete shock. I've called the imaging center 4 times to try to discuss with someone but never get a return call.

I was wondering too! So far my totals are around 6500.00 not including first ultrasound and not sure that pathology is in this total! Unbelievable! I live in the midwest if that makes any difference.

Also, wondering as not sure when you had yours done. Did you still experience some pain 2 weeks after the needle biopsy. That's where I'm at now. And wondering how long that lasts?

I makes me wonder what a core biopsy would have cost! I’m assuming I’ll need more of these in the future and if it’s going to be this much or more each time I may need to increase my insurance coverage.

I had some bruising for a few days but very little pain. My lump is very close to the surface\skinwhich might make a difference.
