Hi all. I'm 42 and have been on ovarian suppression and Aromasin since early April 2020. Today for the first time, I'm having light bleeding. I'm worried that this means the ovarian suppression isn't working.....Has anyone else had bleeding despite Lupron?

Are you being given the 3 month shot or the 1 month shot? I have hear that the 3 month shot has a tendency to wear off as opposed to getting it every month.

I'm on the three month shot. I'm 8 weeks into the second shot. Today I have a full-blown period! I called my oncologist, and I'm going in today for an estradiol test to see if Lupron is adequately suppressing my ovaries.....

Hi there. They drew my blood to do the estradiol test. It could be a few days before I hear back. I'm hoping it's sooner.

Test results are taking way too long lately due to Covid. My husband waited 2 week for his colonoscopy results (high risk, Mom passed away from colon cancer, 11 polyps). It was very stressful, thankfully all ok.

Be sure to update with results.

Hi there. I just had my appointment with the oncologist. She said my estrogen level was 181, which is very high.....It's supposed to be under 50. She's going to switch me from the 3-month regimen to the 1-month, and I have to switch from Lupron to Eligard because there's a Lupron shortage. I started on Lupron in April and my periods did stop until recently, but she said it's unknown whether I was ever truly post-menopausal. She did warn me that for a minority of women, these shots don't succeed enough at suppressing the ovaries, and if that happens I'll probably need to have my ovaries removed.

I felt pretty terrible after starting the Lupron, and I noticed about 3 weeks ago that I was starting to feel better....The hot flashes stopped entirely. I was excited because I thought this mean I had just adjusted to the ovarian suppression - Nope! We're going to delay starting me on Zometa for a couple of months so we can see how I do on Eligard without having to wonder if side effects are being caused by Zometa. She said that in three months, we'll re-check my estrogen levels.

I'm really scared of the side effects of ovarian removal because it's permanent and it's not like they can give me an estrogen supplement.
