Is this normal, or should I be worried
Hello, I have some concerns about a change in my breast. I discovered this about three weeks ago, when I was on my period and there was a type on pain that comes from growing in one of my breasts, which I wasn’t too concerned about. I also then felt a strange lump in my breast, that didn’t go away after the pain or my period stopped. The lump isn’t round, it’s more like a line that goes horizontally half across the upper section of my breast. During the past few weeks I’ve also discovered that there is a similar structure in my other breast, but it is a lot less obvious, whereas the one I’m worried about sticks out more and I can feel it more when feeling my breast. I don’t have any other symptoms, I’m really young and I don’t have any family history of breast cancer that I know of, so I know the chances of this being breast cancer are low, but could this structure be a sign of cancer and should I get it checked out by my doctor or is it not something I shouldn’t worry about?
If someone could help me out and give me some advice It would be really appreciated, I have pretty bad health anxiety a lot of the time and currently my mental state is in a really bad place because of my constant worry about this being breast cancer, thanks a lo

How young is “very young?” Sounds like you need to make an appointment with your gynecologist, not because it sounds like anything is wrong, but to have the doctor examine your breasts, then go over things and teach you what is normal for you.
We can help with breast issues but we can’t fix anxiety issues. If you have extreme health anxiety than likely nothing we tell you will be ever be sufficient reassurance to you. Are you getting help with the anxiety? It is so miserable and no way to live. Very treatable

Hi ScaredBlob, We're sorry that you're experiencing so much anxiety. Most women have changes in their breasts during their menstrual cycle, which are caused by hormones. However, while this is very normal, it's always a good idea to talk with your doctor about what you're experiencing. And it's very good that you are keeping track of the changes over the month. Hang in there, and please keep us posted!
Warmly,
The Mods

Most women's breasts aren't completely symmetrical, so the slight difference in whatever you're feeling probably doesn't mean anything. First thing I thought of from your description is cartilage, but have your doctor check it out so you'll know what's normal for you, like MelissaDallas said.

Yes, I agree. How old are you?
Please make an appointment with an OB/Gyn doc even if you've never seen one before.
