I have had two radiation treatments so far. Is it unusual that I’m experiencing a great deal of fatigue already??

If you have already done chemo and surgery, and all the related tests, maybe not. Rads is usually the end of tx, and it can be a bit of a let down. You have been through a lot. Plus knowing the daily slog of going there. You will probably see your RO weekly, snag his nurse before then if you can to discuss

It seems early to get fatigued, but like Spookiesmom said, it depends on what you've been through. It's helpful to fill out your diagnostic and treatment info and make it public so people don't have to guess. By the time I had radiation, I'd had a lumpectomy, a re-excision, and a nephrectomy, and I did not get fatigued at all - but everyone is different. And besides the radiologist, mention it to your PCP and MO. You can have more than one thing going on in your body at the same time.

JoBee, I felt very, very tired/sleepy after my first radiation which really surprised me. It was about 4 hours after the radiation. And there were other times early on that It would really hit me, but other than that nothing was out of the ordinary.

I had slight fatigue throughout my treatments, however, about a week after my last treatment (#30), I became extremely fatigued, it was a Saturday and I spent my morning running errands for about 3 hours, well, when I got home I literally collapsed on the sofa and couldn't move for about 3 hours, it was very scary. I couldn't even get up to answer the phone when it rang (we have a landline as well as cell phones). But after this bout of fatigue happened it never happened again. I don't know why this happened and didn't ask my RO why this happened.

I was very tired the first week and collapsed when I got home each day. Dr gave me dexamethasone the second week for pain and numbness in my arms from chemo and I was like the energizer bunny the rest of the weeks. And I slept well during radiation. I am normally an insomniac.

Thanks, all, for the help. I have four radiation treatments under my belt. The fatigue is definitely there. I hope to talk to the dr about it. No chemo - just had a lumpectomy in May and then a big delay of radiation because of fluid build-up.
