DIEP surgeons in Illinois?

Hi,

Seeking help finding a micro plastic surgeon in the Chicago area that performs the DIEP surgery. I do currently have implants. My PS has recommended I have them removed and get the DIEP due to all the complications I have had with the implants, numerous capsular contractures, infections, etc.

I have researched some doctors that specializes in micro breast reconstruction, however I would greatly appreciate any first hand knowledge of the doctors.

My Ps suggested Dr. Shenaq and she works together with Dr. Antony. Dr shenanigans says she does it all the time. I had planned 2 surgery dates with them and came recommended but due to circumstances I had to cancel. I really like Rush hospital but it'll take time to get to elective surgery scheduled.

I had mine done at University of Chicago by Dr. David Chang. I’m fairly pleased with the results, but need to decide if I will have any revisions

Hi Mama,

I had my implants removed and replaced with DIEP flaps and it was the best decision I could have made. I consulted with a several surgeons and decided to go with Dr. Iris Seitz at Edward/Elmhurst. I can not say enough good things about my experience, I am extremely happy with the care I received and the outcome of my surgery. Dr. Seitz is a brilliant surgeon and wonderful human being who does the DIEP flap alongside another great microsurgeon, Dr. Pavone. In fact, although I now live in Boston and work for a well known major Medical/Cancer Center and see breast cancer reconstructions in my line of work, I would definitely return to Chicago have Dr. Seitz handle any revisions if I ever needed that. Good luck!
