Feeling nothingš
I had a double mastectomy last June. My final surgery to replace my expanders was December 30th. My breast are cold. I still have so much numbness which I really wasn't prepared for. My nipples are numb but uncomfortable to touch. It's weird. I miss feeling my husband's hands on my breast. It's so uncomfortable now. I have no desire for sex. I'm not sure if it's the surgery or the tamoxifen. Before all this I had a healthy sex drive. It's such a bummer. My plastic surgeon told me there is a nerve surgery she can do for the numbness. I'm just over surgery for right now. Any suggestions on how you all cope with this? Is it the dreaded medication

AprilDawn - I was told not to expect any feeling after a bilateral mastectomy and subsequent surgery to exchange expanders for breast implants. And 9 years down the road - that's totally accurate. I have no feeling. My implants aren't cold but I understand many people have that side effect. I agree that it's a bummer since my breasts were my major erogenous zone & most important for stimulation. I've had to learn new ways to play - but still miss the lost breast sensations.
That said, I was ER/PR negative so can't speak to the effect of tamoxifen. I'm sure someone else will chime in.

April sorry that youāre feeling this way and that you maybe werenāt really warned about everything. It really does suck. I donāt think people realize how much this affects us physically/emotionally.
I had Bil NSMX and was completely numb for months after surgery (which I was warned of to an extent) especially on my left side/axilla. I didnāt think it would ever get better and it was so uncomfortable at first. I now have a lot of āsurface/skin sensationā, except a few areas on my LT side and a little area on my back. I donāt have that cold feeling that many women complain about. So Iām sorry you are dealing with that as well.
Hopefully you regain some feeling and your implants start to feel more a part of you. I donāt blame you for not wanting to go through more surgeries but if itās that important to you maybe itās worth looking into again down the road?
I do not have to take any meds but Iām sure other ladies will chime in to help.
Hang in there

Aprildawn please speak with your MO because tamoxifen can greatly impact all of your emotions and your mental as well as sexual health are equally important. Maybe you can adjust dosages or try a different medication that doesn't dampen you down so.
My foobs felt cold to me as well initially, I think I have just gotten used to it now. Although sometimes when there is a distinct temperature change, like walking from air conditioning out into high humidity, they feel for lack of a better word, clammy, for a bit.
