What am I

Hello I am a new member and looking for others like me . I was diagnosed as stage 4 metastatic cancer in 2018. The only treatment I was given is tamoxifen. By mid 2019 tamoxifen not only killed off the active breast cancer it killed all off over 100 legions to the bone and one to the lung. I was told I am still stage 4 since once you are stage 4,the cancer has already changed your cellular makeup ? I really don’t understand. I still see the oncologist monthly with a full blood panel and get scans and xrays every 3 to 6 months. I was told the cancer will learn how to override the tamoxifen. Has anyone else experienced the same? I am HR positive and pre menopausal at age 49. So I am not able to take any of the other drugs at this time unless I am willing to freeze my ovaries monthly or have them removed . Thanks Barbie

    Hi Barbie,

Sorry that you find yourself here but welcome. My situation is not exactly like yours as I did have radiation to a single bone met. Other than that , just AI’s. The bone lesion is necrotic and I have had no progression for 9 years. Sadly, we are still stage IV. Those sneaky cancer cells are quite likely laying dormant somewhere in our bodies and we don’t know when they will wake up but for the vast majority of us with mets, they will. I am somewhat unique in having gone this long without progression and no one knows why.

If you have a few minutes you might want to fill out your signature line and make it public. Then folks who’ve had the same dx, tx etc. as you have can respond more specifically. Take care
