Lower Inner Quadrant

My tumor was lower inner quadrant on my left side. I’ve read articles about how this tumor location has a worse prognosis, and I know it has been discussed here, but both my surgeon and oncologist have said that my tumor location doesn’t affect my prognosis. Just wondering if any of you have had similar conversations with your doctors? I am four years out and this still worries me sometimes

Your stage is 1a. Your grade is 1. You had no nodes involved. Those are the statistics that count.

Hi Kathy, I'm sorry you've been worried. I think you can be reassured by the words of both your oncologist and surgeon who have told you that the location does not necessarily affect the prognosis. They have seen many cases of breast cancer and their outcomes. Four years out is not really that long, but try to release that fear. You are being followed by your doctors, right? It's hard not to keep researching and reading about cancer, but don't let it overwhelm you. Believe it or not, there will come a day when you don't wake up thinking about cancer.

    Wishing you a peaceful day.

    (((hugs)))

There is no use in worrying about something you can not control. I was lower inner quadrant too, but Stage II & Grade 3. I am over 13 years out and am still doing fine (I will now, of course, knock on wood).

I had three tumors in that same area and one was triple negative grade 3. I’m sure I read all the same stats as you.

I worried about it for a long time and then just made up my mind not to do it anymore - too draining. The truth is, if it is true, there is absolutely nothing I can do about it. But I can stop wasting the days that I have now that are cancer free.

I know it’s hard, but really try to just enjoy this moment.
