Just diagnosed July 29, 2020!
I found the lump about a month ago and then last week had a mammogram and ultrasound done. I had my biopsy on Monday.
Wednesday, my PCP called and told me that I did have breast cancer. She told me I have Invasive ductal cancer, stage 2 in my right breast. She was going to call the cancer doctor to set things up for me to come in to see them. Waiting to hear back from the cancer doctor.
I am 64 yrs old and scared to death! No one in my family has ever had breast cancer, as far as I know. I have other health problems and have had chronic pain for over 25 years. I was not expecting this at all. Looking for help and someone to talk to who might understand. Been married 47 yrs to a wonderful husband, Richard, but he's not easy to talk to about it really.
I have so many things going through my mind! We already struggle each month making ends meet, Worried now what to do and what to expect. How do you cope with having cancer?

Welcome to the club none of us wanted to join, but we are so thankful to have one another to lean on, TXWildflower55.
To be perfectly honest, this part of your journey is probably the most difficult. Waiting, not having answers, and letting your mind go to dark places is the worst!
I'll tell you the same thing I was told when I started my journey: Take a breath. Reach out for help & don't be too proud to ask for it. Make a list of all the things you want to know from your doctor. Take care of YOU! (Practice some self-care this weekend because right now you are in such limbo).
As you get 'the plan' from your medical team, your 'new normal' will start to emerge. Your diagnosis will direct what action your team will take for conquering the cancer monster. Some of us get conservative treatments, and some of us get the trifecta triple-whammy. (I fell into that category unfortunately).
On this website, you will discover others who are here to give you guidance and support, prayers and love. All you have to do is ask! These ladies and gents are truly inspirational and will be here to cheer you through whatever your future holds. Feel free to message me if you need a pep talk! You can and will get through this, and we are here for you to guide your journey.

TXWildflower, I am sorry you are having to walk this path. Fishing had it right, this is the hardest part of your journey right now. You have been told you have cancer but you don't know all the details and you don't have a treatment plan yet. Vent here all you need to, there are wonderful women (and men) who can support you and truly understand your anxiety. Try to take care of yourself right now. I remember how much I worried over every little thing. Do things that help settle your mind. If your anxiety gets too high, reach out to your PCP . The oncology group may have a therapist that can help as well. I found yoga and some mediation to be really helpful. You didn't list it but do you know your hormone receptor status?
Valley - my best to you it sounds like you have a strong plan in place and sorry you are on this journey as well. So glad your MRI scans were clear.
