Hello wonderful people,

I have been on Tamoxifen for 9 plus years now and thinking to switch it to something else. I worry about the tamoxifen's long term use side effect- uterine cancer. I will be 50 in May and my menstrual cycle stopped after my second chemo, I had good amount of lymph nodes positive so removed all the lymph nodes from my right arm pit and chest. As people say when life gets lemon turned into lemonade and it has been that way for me. I feel i am living the most beautiful and happy life after i finished cancer treatment and i hope to keep my journey with my two beautiful teenagers and wonderful husband. So far God has been kind to me and my family, has no issues at all but I wanted to reach out to others and hear from them if good to switch to something else and if I switch what would be the best choice. I have been doing my own research but its good to hear from others who went through same issue.

Protect yourself from COVID-19, wear a mask, cover eyes if you traveling, wash your hands often. Love you all. Heart

Here's a thought: ask your doctor to get you a uterine ultrasound. That will give your doctor an idea as to how your uterus has reacted to 9 years of Tamoxifen. If the lining has not thinned out as is normally expected for being 9 years post-menopause, then you may want to consider switching. But if the lining looks normal, then risk of uterine cancer is very low. It apparently doesn't just come out of the blue, but there are signs that can be watched. If Tamoxifen is working for you, maybe you should stick with it. Many other drugs can be difficult to tolerate.
