I am at the end of my radiation treatment. week 6, 3 more to go. just last week i finally started to see the flare ups and burns. I am now in excruciating pain. my skin is raw, i'm peeling. But today i noticed where the pain (not burn) is, there is also bruising. is this normal? Why am i bruising?

Call your RO, stat. S/he can prescribe something for the burns and pain. Have someone go to drug store, get some pure aloe gel for it for now. Or cut a leaf or 2 if you have a plant. Wrap a frozen ice container, apply a minute or so, then off. I don’t know about bruises, I didn’t get that either time with rads

We absolutely agree that your radiation oncologist should be informed, to better help you. How terrible to have to live with this. You may find reading this (Radiation Therapy) helpful, and make sure to look at "managing side effects".

Please keep us posted on what helps/doesn't help!

I too did 33 weeks of radiation and by the mid to last week myarm pits were torched, especially on the right side where the positive node was found. There was bruising and discoloration for quite a while. The skin was so super tight. I would use ice packs to loosen it up just so that I could lift my arm over my head.
