I had my annual mammo this week but this year they added screening ultrasound as I have extremely dense breasts. My mammo was negative but the radiologist came in after the ultrasound to say there were some spots that were probably benign but I needed to return in 6 months. I am still waiting on the ultrasound report. I made an appointment with my specialist for early September (I have a history of fibrocystic breasts) but I can’t imagine waiting for 6 months. Should I insist on an MRI or biopsy? I’m 41, have 3 kids, and no family history. In light of everything going in the world right now, I don’t think I have the strength to get into this cycle of watch and wait. This is really going to push me into a dark place

“Probably Benign” is estimated to be a 2% or less chance of cancer and no biopsy is recommended. Even if you had biopsies you would still be on a six month techeck schedule for a while

DWTBH2020, it's easy to say, "Don't worry", but do try not to worry. In my case(s), the US tech brought in the radiologist wanted me back for a biopsy. I also had one US that showed nothing. When they say to follow up in six months, it tells us that they're not overly concerned. They see breast scans every day and get really good at reading the results. If they're truly concerned, they would recommend further testing or follow up sooner than six months.

I wish you well. When you get your US report, come back here. There are a lot of ladies who have been down your path and can guide you.
