A question about path report

Hi everyone. I already know that I'm stage IV, but I have a question about a line in the path report from my initial diagnosis.

Metastatic breast carcinoma with ductal and lobular features; see comment. Extranodal extension is identified.

The above line is in my report. My lump was in my armpit on the same side as my last cancer. I had a mastectomy on that side. My first cancer was IDC, HR+, ER+ and HER2-.

Is this both IDC and ILC? I can ask my MO, but I thought I'd check with my fellow Stage IV sisters here.

Thanks, everyone! :)

    Hi Sunshine,

I cannot say with 100% certainty but I would say yes, you have both. I often wonder if my situation is similar but I have not had anything easy enough to biopsy (beyond cells in the pleura which is how my cancer returned). Like you I appear to have a slower growing cancer - I was IIa as well and it was almost 17 years between my initial diagnosis and my stage IV diagnosis. My cancer also seems to favour membranes with early progression showing up in the capsule of my liver. Curious for ductal.

Hopefully someone more knowledgeable will chime in.
