Hi

I posted last year 2019 about my biopsy and surgery for an intraductal papilloma in my left breast.Recently I found a small lump in my right breast and had a diagnostic mammogram today. All clear in right breast but radiologist found a mass in left breast. She said she thought it was not cancer but a fibroadenoma. I didn’t think fibroadenomas were found in my age group 60 years old and post menopause. So I have a biopsy next week to make sure

I feel like I have ptsd concerning my previous biopsy etc. I am reliving everything from last year again. Trying to keep it under control

Advice and good thoughts and prayers welcomed

Fibroadenomas are much more common in young women, but they can develop at any age. Did you have an ultrasound? Usually ultrasounds are best at showing the features of a fibroadenoma.

While biopsies aren't always done when imaging shows what clearly appears to be a fibroadenoma in a young woman, for anyone older, a biopsy will be done to confirm that the mass is a fibroadenoma.

Going through a biopsy is never fun, but think if it as the way that you will hopefully get confirmation that this is just a fibroadenoma. Good luck!

    Hi

Yes I did have an ultrasound and that’s how the radiologist found the fibroadenoma. Thank you so much for your reply

I will post more after biopsy

    Thanks again

I had my biopsy today. Second radiologist says it looks benign. She mentioned a cluster of cysts or complex cyst.

Hoping the Pathology report comes quick

    Thanks for listening

Sounds good that two radiologists believe it to be benign.

Hope your wait isn't long and that you can celebrate when you get the results!
