Treated for Stage 1A eight years ago. Chemo/mastectomy/tamoxifen. Just was starting to believe this was behind me. And found out yesterday that it's back in the lymph nodes on the same side I had a mastectomy. So at least Stage 3. Doctor wants to do further tests to see if it has metastasized. So don't want to go through all this again.

Oh that really sucks. On the plus side, new treatments & better management of side effects come along all the time but still, suckage all around. Fingers crossed for your scans to be otherwise negative.

Hi lehrski, I can imagine how awful it was to hear you had a progression/recurrence after doing well for so many years.

I’m sorry you are here again. I'm sad that you are probably dreading the side effects of treatment and maybe even fearing for what this means for your quality of life and longevity. We will be with you, holding you up when you are down, cheering for your good news, and giving you the gift of our own experiences to guide you along the way.

I was basically de novo Stage IV last year. It was just a series of bad news after the initial ultrasound and biopsy had indicated an earlier stage. With each biopsy and test, we found out that the cancer was worse than they originally thought. The disappointment and dread after each bad fork in the road was tough. I say that not to discourage you, but to encourage you that even with all the bad news, my doctors are still optimistic. They think the new Immunotherapy drugs will give me many years of living a relatively good quality of life. So to echo moth‘s comment, things will probably be different this time around with the new treatment options. (((Hugs)))

Thanks all for your support. I'll check out the recurrence forum. I had a couple of days of anxiety, but after a long run today, I'm feeling much calmer and ready to read stuff on here.
