I found out last week that I have Stage II, triple neg IDC. Treatment will be aggressive so I am starting chemo on the 20th. I had my Port placed yesterday and I am still pretty sore. However the most sore spot is the jugular vein with some swelling. It is near two spots that were numbed. Anyone else have port soreness like this?

I'm sorry to hear you are having soreness. I've had my port for a few weeks now and the soreness went away after a couple of days. It's an annoying feeling, as I'm always aware it's there, but no pain.

I had my port for 6 months and it always hurt! I had pain for about 3 weeks after it was placed on the muscles next to my neck and couldn’t even wear a bra for 6 months because anything touching it hurt! I was sooo glad to get it out. That said, I’m glad I had it in for chemo.

Hope you don’t have my experience.

Oh dear. I had my port for 6 or 7 years and really didn't want to give it up. I was coached to draw my bra strap on my body with a sharpie before surgery, so the placement never rubbed on anything and never showed with lower cut blouses. But I do remember it hurt for a week - although I went right to chemo the next day.

It would be a good idea to get a prescription for Emla cream (lidocaine). If you put it on the site before each infusion, it numbs the area. Be sure to use a Q-tip and not your fingers to apply or your fingers will be numb.
