Hi all, It's been 18 months since my first diagnosis with DCIS low grade. A couple of weeks ago the mammo found more micro calcifications that this time turned out to be DCIS High Grade via biopsy. I see my BS and Onocologist this week but was just wondering who else has went through something similar (DCIS) 2 times in less than 2 years? I do know that high grade is not a good thing and certain that I'll be scheduling a DBL MX soon. Not sure what other treatments the docs will want for me. I am high hormone positive ( I never did the hormone therapy or rads) all while smack in the middle of menopause. Any suggestions or similar experiences I would love to hear about. Now on to researching mastectomy and reconstruction and those options.

Is there any chance that they may have missed the original spot - either it's in a difficult to see location or potentially the calcium deposits were too faint to pick up previously? That happened to me - the original treatment center missed a spot that is hard to get to on my small breasts. I have seen some research articles that seem to point to these quick recurrences as having already been present in the breast tissue to some degree.

I'm with you - researching bilateral MX for when the time comes, I'm starting to think that will be my best option given my physique. Can't wait to get my next screens done in December to see if the tamoxifen is helping! In my mind, it's not IF I'll get the surgery, it's WHEN.
