Got home from the hospital after bilateral - no reconstruction- mastectomy. Probably doing too much stuff so trying to rest now.

I moved stuff around - nothing too heavy- since the dryer just about caught fire when I put my clothes I wore to the hospital in to dry.

Had to move stuff so maintenance could get in.

Had set stuff all on the floor due to thinking I wouldn’t be able to lift my arms.

I lift them just fine so far.

I am checking if you all have any idea if tissue and not just blood is supposed to drain out.

I see some bits of material in the drain tubes.

These drains sure are a nuisance!!!!

But am grateful to have been able to get surgery done despite the pandemic.

I had to try a couple of places to find a place still doing surgeries like this.

Thank you very much. Doctor's office had answering service on; amazing. Not sure what is going on here with pandemic and doctor/medical center hours right now.

I had quite a big of tissue in my drains during the 3 weeks that I had them

Did they show you how to clear the drain tubing? I wasn’t good about doing it the first couple of days and tissue can actually get stuck and block the tubes.

Yes, I think I can strip the drains now, but I think maybe that’s what happened to me.

It got blocked, as you say.

I wasn’t supposed to drive despite just taking Tylenol but I went to CVS, and got gauze and rubbing alcohol. CVS was out of alcohol pads.

Using that to strip the drains helped!!

The doctor advised it but they only gave me a couple of alcoholpads and it takes several days to try to get them off Amazon.
