cancer as an underlying condition?

I was diagnosed with IDC last spring (2019) and went through radiation treatment but no chemo.

I am a civil servant working from home since my agency closed in March 2020. We may be going back to work in September but those with underlying conditions may be allowed to continue to work from home.

My question: does a previous cancer diagnosis count as an underlying condition? I am seeing my medical, surgical, and radiation oncologists for my 6 month check-ups in two weeks and I will ask them, but I was wondering what other folks' experiences were with making them eligible to continue to work from home.

Does anyone know?

Thank you for any and all insights.

Sincerely,

Patricia

    tovahsmom,

Have you asked your doctor that question? That would be the first thing I would do since your doctor is aware of your particular situation. However, in general the answer would be no. You are not immune compromised and are not in active treatment. I have stage IV and my current treatment does not leave me immune compromised. My mo feels that although I do have an underlying condition I am not at any greater risk than most people. I think your doctor would be the best person to ask!

I asked my doc about this at the beginning of COVID. I did not have a chemo and about a year and a bit out from radiation, and a lot of friends were expressing concern to me. My MO referred to my recent blood tests and said that based on my tests and white blood cell count, she wouldn't consider me higher risk than anyone else my age/weight/etc.
