Optic Neuropathy

Options

My mother is 60 yo. ER+, PR+, Her2Neu+. She received some doses of Kadcyla. Although it put her in remission but she lost her eyesight in both eyes. The medical tern fo her diagnosis is Optic Neuropathy. The doctors say that she will get her eyesight back but not sure of the timeline. It has been over a year since this happened. She can see only 30% i.e. shadows of everything; everything is very dark for her.

Anyone else having similar experience? Any doctors/holistic treatments/natural treatments?

BCfighter - There was some good feedback on your other posts. It's often good to stay with one thread so people can follow the story.

At this point I believe I'd get 2nd opinions. Probably at an NCI cancer center. And certainly one from a very experienced ophthalmologist also.

MinusTwo - I am looking into the feedback I got there.

I want to start a thread for Optic Neuropathy in the forum "Side Effects of BC and treatments". I didn't see an existing thread so I thought I should start one where similar experiences can be shared. I agree to avoid the duplicates and will be mindful of that in the future.

BCfighter - has your Mom been seen at an NCI cancer center? I had an appointment to see my opthamalogist next week and was going to ask, but I cancelled since Houston is a new virus hot spot.

MinusTwo - My mom is in India and she is receiving care there. I live in Minneapolis, MN. I lived in Houston, TX some time back. I know coronavirus situation is crazy in TX. If you wear a N95 mask, you should be fine. I sent some to my mom and eye protective glasses that I ordered from Amazon.

bcfighter - Ah ha. I don't know enough about India to comment on their care. Maybe when this virus has run it's course she could come visit you and have a consult with a specialist here. Below is the link to NCI centers by state.
